Tressie Mae Mcbride

February 6, 1923 — February 1, 2015

Tressie was born on February 6, 1923 in Memphis, TX to James and Bertha Wilson. She lived in Memphis until shortly after her graduation from Memphis High School in 1942, when she moved to Amarillo. There, she met and married Roy McBride on March 7, 1944. Roy preceded her in death in 2004. After receiving her LVN certification, Tressie worked as Psychiatric nurse for more than 15 years, serving at several hospitals, including the Pavilion, Amarillo, and Baylor Medical Center, Dallas. In their 60 year marriage, Tressie and Roy lived in California, Florida, Tennessee, West Virginia and 2 other places in Texas before returning home to Amarillo in 1985 to enjoy their grandchildren. Tressie was an avid reader, "Forty-Two" Player, Camper Club participant, a member of Eastern Star, and a longtime member of Washington Avenue Christian Church. Her gentle nature and sweet spirit will be missed. She is survived by her son, William "Bill" McBride and wife Geraldine of Amarillo; grandchildren, Michael McBride and Megan Gore and husband Davin of Amarillo, Beverly Bermudez and husband Tomas of Chandler, AZ, and Joseph Bourgeous, and great grandchildren, Nova Gore, Piper Gore, Dava Gore, Draven Gore and Nikki Bermudez and Matt Bermudez, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy McBride; sisters, Madge Selman and Marie Foust and brothers, James and Bobby Wilson.
