Trudy Ann Maupin, 79, of Amarillo, Texas, went Home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Celebration of Life services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
Trudy was born in Brookfield, Missouri, on January 7th, 1945, to Dale and Madeline Maupin. She grew up in St. Joseph, Missouri, then moved with her family to Amarillo, Texas, where her dad began working for the new Freshe Bread Company. She attended Tascosa High School and graduated in 1963. Following her dream to be a hairdresser, she received her cosmetology license shortly thereafter and began her 55-year career as a beautician.
Trudy moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1969, and spent the next 20 years there. Her new clientele began to grow. She became the personal hairdresser for Barbara Davis, philanthropist and wife of billionaire industrialist Marvin Davis, who owned 20th Century Fox at that time. Through Barbara she met many celebrities like Jimmy Stewart and Eva Gabor.
In 1972, she met the Lord when her older sister, Janet, faced life threatening open heart surgery. Eugenia Price's book, The Burden is Light, had a significant impact on Trudy, leading her to make Jesus her Lord and Savior. Both sisters began to grow in their relationship with the Lord, which impacted their family and friends.
Through her involvement in church, she had the opportunity to go to Israel, a trip which further strengthened her love for the Lord and His Word and for the people and nation of Israel.
Loving the mountains, she acquired a small cabin near Central City. This became a great source of blessing, memories, and adventures for Trudy and also for many friends and family.
She returned to Amarillo in 1991, and became deeply involved in prayer ministry, a home group, and the prophetic ministry at Trinity Fellowship Church. Many loving relationships developed there.
Trudy was highly creative and artistic. She was always a giver and a true prayer warrior.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Janet Rothe, of Greeley, Colorado.
Survivors include her younger sister, Julie Huffman and husband Phil of Amarillo; her niece, Sarah Hendrick and husband Aaron, of San Antonio; her nephews, Joshua Huffman of Amarillo, Tracy Rothe (Marci) of Berthoud, Colorado, and Joel Rothe (Hope) of Loveland, Colorado; and brother-in-law, Alvie Rothe, of Greeley, Colorado. She is also survived by dearly loved cousins.
She is "Aunt Trudy" to more than just her biological niece and nephews, and she was a big sister to many of her younger sister's friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, ifcj.org, to support the nation of Israel.
