Vernon "Vern" Talley

Vernon “Vern” Talley, 83 of Amarillo, walked into the arms of Jesus on November 4, 2020. Funeral services are 10:00 AM Monday, November 9, 2020, at Hillside Christian Chapel, 6100 S Soncy Road, with Pastor Tommy Politz officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. Vern was born on September 24, 1937, in Wingate, Texas to William and Mattie Talley. He was a faithful member of Hillside Christian Church in Amarillo. Vern was a devoted member of the Church choir and enjoyed participating in the yearly church pageants. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them play sports. Vern was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and dedicated to the Randall Lady Raiders. He was a very active person and enjoyed traveling around the world when he could. Vern was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; Billy Talley, Jerry Talley and Hollis Talley; three sisters, Dorothy Morehead, Anna Higgins and Marilyn Leach; one grandchild, Christian Cook. Survivors include his two daughters, Pam Glenn and husband Ronnie, Kathy Underwood and Husband David; one son, Vern Talley Jr. and his wife Ginny all of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
