Jenny was born December 12, 1933 in Pampa, Texas to Elmer and Marie Milton. She graduated from Hedley High School and went on to West Texas State University, where she earned her bachelor and master’s degree in Education. Jenny married her husband, Stanley, on May 20, 1955 in Hedley. They moved to Amarillo, where they raised a family of five kids, Karen, Joe, Cyndy, Andy and Julie. Jenny became a school teacher and taught for 30 years, the last 20 years at Paramount Terrace Elementary School. She loved her job, teaching math, art and kindergarten through the years, and reluctantly retired in 2003 at the age of 70.
Jenny was an extremely creative person, talented painter and jewelry maker. She had an art gallery at Panhandle Art Center, where she was president and treasurer for many years. In addition, she was an excellent cook and loved making huge holiday dinners for her family. She enjoyed square dancing and was always ready to go to concerts and dances dressed to the nines. Jenny was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always had a smile and a word of encouragement, and never spoke about others in an unkind way. She will dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley D. Bailey; a daughter, Cyndy Bailey; three sisters, Maxine, Elma and Lulu; and two brothers, Roy and Lynn “Sandy”.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Bailey-Green of Corpus Christi, and Julie McGimpsey of Amarilo; two sons, Joe Bailey and Andy Bailey and wife Kim all of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Stephanie Renslow and husband Jeff, Courtney Green, Zack Bailey, Giles Bailey, Allison Trumps, and Colton McGimpsey; and nine great-grandchildren, Bailey, Stetson, Britt, Mason, Cason, Blake, Natalia, Elijah and Freyja.
