Virginia Fincher

Amarillo

Virginia Sensibaugh Fincher, 92, of Amarillo, died on September 8, 2024. Graveside Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday September 11, 2024 at Llano Cemetery with Pastor Robby Barrett officiating. Anyone wishing to pay their final respects to Virginia may do so on Tuesday September 10, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Virginia was born in 1931 in Bridgeport, Texas, to Minnie Lee and Ferd Sensibaugh.  She graduated from North Side High School in Fort Worth, Texas, and later attended Texas Christian University.

Following high school, she worked at Fort Lewis Army Base in Tacoma, Washington, and Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista, Arizona.  Upon her return to Texas, she worked at the Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Company in Fort Worth, and later became the secretary to the superintendent of the tooling and machine shop at Ling Temco Vaught (LTV) in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Virginia met her future husband, Duane Fincher, at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in 1957 and married him many dance steps later in 1958.  After the birth of their son Brian, Virginia became a full-time loving mother and homemaker.

Virginia loved to sew, machine knit, and embroider, and she especially enjoyed the monthly knit club meetings with other knitters in the Texas Panhandle.

She was a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Texas Tech Red Raiders and rooted them on at every opportunity.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Nancy Anderson, her husband, Duane, and her son, Brian.  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Rod Zeman, of Amarillo, her grandson, Zach Zeman, of Austin, and a niece, Nancy Schlais, of Sitka, Alaska.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Goodcare, BSA Hospice of the Southwest, and BSA Compassion Home Health for their loving care of Virginia.

Memorial donations may be made to the Christian Relief Fund (PO Box 19670, Amarillo, TX 79114) or to a favorite charity.
