Virginia Winters

Virginia Winters, 74, of Amarillo passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Oasis Southwest Baptist Church; 8201 Canyon Drive. Virginia was born September 30, 1943 in Amarillo to Ross and Vida Williams. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1962. Virginia was a member of Living Water Christian Fellowship in Canyon. She married Fred Winters on July 9, 1963. They were childhood sweethearts and lifelong residents of Amarillo. Virginia loved experiencing God's beauty in the great outdoors by traveling to the mountains and camping with family and friends, as well as farming alongside her husband Fred on the Texas plains. She worked at the Downtown Women's Center and received The Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2010. She was a proud small business owner and a faithful servant to the church in evangelism and children's ministry, which she loved dearly. Virginia was the "Rock" of the family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Vida Williams; 2 sisters, Juanita Lavell Lam and Sue Yvonne Williams; and brother, R.C. Williams Jr. Virginia is survived by Husband, Fred Winters; 2 sons, Mike and Shauna Winters and Rick and Stacey Winters; 2 sisters, Wanda Joyce and Johnny Johnson and Ruby and Toby Bilderback; brother, Ronald Paul and Jane Williams; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Living Water Christian Fellowship in Canyon, Oasis Southwest Baptist Church in Amarillo or The Downtown Women's Center.
