Walter Cota

Walt was born on December 30, 1953 in Oceanside, CA to Harold and Patricia Cota. He was raised in Pampa, before moving to Reno, NV. He graduated from Proctor R. Hug High School as Valedictorian, an accomplishment he was especially proud of. Walt then enlisted in the United States Navy in 1972, where he proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1975. He then attended Rutgers University in New Jersey, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. He was employed with the state of New Jersey for over 30 years when he retired. He then moved home to Texas to be closer to his family. Walt was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, even while living in New Jersey. Most of all, he was devoted to his family and especially loved his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his 4 brothers, Jim Cota of Fernley, NV, Harold Cota and wife Kathy of Pampa, Bob Cota and wife Becky of Amarillo and Chuck Cota of Pampa; nieces and nephews, James Cota and wife Catherine, Angela Cota and Chris, Misty Alvey and husband Todd, Michael Cota, Brian Cota, Brandi Cota and fiancé, Tanner Leach, and Katelyn and Bethany Muggleworth; great nieces and nephews, Sarah and Dominique Cota, Paege Pritchett and husband Austin, Payton Alvey and fiancé Seth Foster, Patterson Alvey, Preslee Alvey, and Sawyer and Jameson Smith; father, Harold H. Cota; Aunt Betty Kinikin of Abilene; close family member, Doris Robbins of Pampa; and many special cousins, whom he loved greatly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Cota
