Wayne Edwards

Wayne Edwards, 68, died Thursday, March 20, 2014. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Christian Heritage Church with Gary Burd officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Wayne was born March 6, 1946, in Hereford to Calvin and Anna Mae Edwards. He went home to be with his Lord and savior on Thursday, March 20, 2014, after a difficult battle with cancer. Wayne was raised in Hereford where he was a graduate of Hereford High School. He attended Eastern New Mexico University as well as Amarillo College. He married Karen Hughes on Aug. 5, 1966, in Friona and moved to Amarillo in 1968. He worked in the life insurance business for 23 years working for Transport Life, Conseco and All State Insurance Co. He also worked for Texas Tech Medical School as a clinic manager. Wayne loved people and was always known to put the needs of others before his own. He was a loving husband, dad and brother. Most of all, he loved being PaPa and Pops to his grandchildren. He loved the game of golf and riding motorcycles. He served as Chaplain for Hardcore Motorcycle Ministry. Survivors include his wife Karen of Amarillo; two daughters, Michelle Hein and husband John and Holly Rinehart and husband Jeremy, all of Amarillo; two sisters, Jan Brorman and husband Butch of Vega and Karen Smith and husband Monty of Hereford; his grandchildren, Audreanna and husband Larry, Michael Wayne, Mariah, Kaylee, Jayden and Alyssa. The family suggests memorials be to Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center and Christian Heritage Church.
