Wendell Bob "Wb" Ashby

February 25, 1948 — June 21, 2014

Wendell was born February 25, 1948, in Gatesville, Texas to Paul and Eleanor Ashby. He attended Lake Highland High School in Dallas, Texas, and then attended East Texas State University in Commerce. Wendell then attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston in 1974 and became a Dr. of Medicine. He became an OB/GYN after witnessing what he described as a "Work of God" during his first experience in childbirth. Wendell worked as an OB/GYN for thirty-eight years, and he has delivered approximately 11,000 children. Wendell played a large role at Paramount Terrace Christian Church serving as a Deacon, Elder, and Trustee. Wendell also served as a medical missionary in Mexico, Jamaica, and Belarus, where he shared his love of Jesus and provided medical care to those in need. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor Ashby, his mother's sister, Doris Denman, his father in law, Bill Moore, and his mother in law, Nancy Moore. The family would like to thank his nurses that took care of him, Betty, Lonnie, and Geraldine, as well as Ramona and all the women at Hospice of the Southwest. He is survived by his father Paul Ashby of Kerrville, three brothers, Jerry Ashby and wife Sharon of Kerrville, Randy Ashby and wife Mary of Houston, and Doug Ashby and wife Cindy from Prosper. Wendell also left behind his wife, Tina Ashby, his son Brent Ashby and wife Heather Ashby, his daughter Allison Kohler and husband Matt Kohler, Brent and Allison's mother, Ann Heffelfinger, his son Landon Ashby, his daughter Melissa Ashby, his son Chris Houchin, his son Nick Houchin and wife April Houchin, and his son Nathan Houchin and fiancé Sara Woodburn, sister-in-law Tamara Moore. There are also eight grandchildren and another on the way. They are Lane and Gabe Kohler, Drew, Drake, Berkley, and Brecken Houchin, Noah Houchin, and Tanner Miller, as well as many nieces and nephews.
