Wesley Drake

Wesley Allen Drake, 64, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024 surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday June 8, 2024 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa, 2215 N Price Rd. Pampa, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Wesley was born on October 20, 1959 to Lyndell and Joan Drake in Borger, TX. He grew up in Canadian and Pampa Texas where he graduated from Pampa High School and met the love of his life. He married his high school sweetheart Kimi Darnell on July 19, 1980 and began 43 years of devotion as a husband and father. He was blessed with two daughters:  Kimberly in 1985 and Christina in 1987.

He graduated from Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in 1981 as a Diesel Technician and spent many years in the trucking industry as a Technician and Shop Foreman. In his free time he enjoyed riding his Harley, cruising around town in his Shelby GT, watching the exploits of his favorite NASCAR driver, and learning the art of gunsmithing. His wicked sense of humor and love of Rock music lives on through his family and keeps his memory close. He loved watching his daughters and granddaughters grow and enjoyed spending his retirement as a beloved Papa.

In 2004, he had the chance to take Kimi on a dream 25th anniversary trip to Hawaii where they toured the islands endlessly on motorcycle and even convinced her to take a helicopter tour around Kaua’i. It was one of their happiest times and a wonderful chance to enjoy the life they had spent so long building together. He was an amazing husband, father, Papa, son, and friend and will be dearly missed by those who cherish him.

He was preceded in death by his father Lyndell Drake and his brother Dennis Drake.

He is survived by his wife Kimi Drake, of the home; his daughters, Kimberly Rollins and husband Steven and Christina Jones and husband Adam; his granddaughters, Aliyah Thrasher and Kahlan Rollins; his mother Joan Drake, and his sister Linda Peterson.
