Wesley "Wes" Karl Gifford

January 9, 1961 — July 16, 2017

Wesley Karl "Wes" Gifford, 56, of Amarillo died Sunday, July 16, 2017. The family has already held a private memorial service. Wes was born January 9, 1961, in Pampa, to Beverly and Shelby Gifford. Wes, was one who from early on, had many obstacles and challenges to conquer. He was disabled his entire life, but to Wes, he never saw it as a disability. He had the power to make any and every one smile, with his quick wit and impeccable sense of humor. He had a strong mind, was an unbelievable story teller and very independent. He was the type of person that if you were feeling down, just a few minutes with him, and your world was a better place. He thoroughly enjoyed oldies music, talking books and nature, as well as, being very knowledgeable about 1950's- 1960's pop culture. He truly lived his life to the fullest and taught us all how to live by example. Wes's faith in God was obvious in his daily life. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff at BSA Hospice of the Southwest and to the staff and clients of ASCI Workshop, for the care and attention shown to Wes his entire life. He is preceded in death by his father, Shelby and a nephew, Spencer Taylor. He is survived by his mother, Beverly June Gifford; his four sisters, Diane Sissom and husband David, Valerie Bintliff and husband Ken all of Amarillo, Rhonda Taylor and husband Gary of McKinney, Veronica Jacoby and husband Joel of Lamar, CO; his nieces and nephews, Monica Mosier, J.J. Luke, Josh Luke, Zachary Taylor, Sarah Jean Nolder and Katy Jacoby; also surviving him are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and many friends.
