Bill was born on July 16, 1943 to Frank and Romana Crawford in Amarillo, Texas. He grew up in Amarillo across the street from the old Saint Anthony’s hospital where he had his first job washing dishes in their kitchen. After graduating from Price College, a private school in Amarillo in May of 1961,, he continued working there and it was here that he was introduced to Xray Technology. He graduated from St. Anthony’s Hospital Xray Program in May of 1964. When Amarillo College took over the Radiography program, he went back to school and obtained his Associates Degree in Applied Science in May of 1970. He later obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from West Texas State University in December 1991.

Bill began teaching part time at Amarillo College in 1968 but soon became a full-time instructor. He later became the Director of Radiography, then Allied Health Division Chair, and rounded out his career as Dean of Health Sciences. His greatest passion remained being a teacher and he continued to teach in the Radiography program until he retired in 2012.

Bill was a dedicated member of the Central Church of Christ and taught small group studies and Bible class until the summer of 2024. He loved his church family and he loved his children and grandchildren. In February of 1995, he married Connie Barton in Amarillo and they nurtured a loving family. He is survived by his wife, Connie; son Paul Crawford and wife Katie; daughter Mary Lopez and husband Joe; daughter Michelle McCoy and husband Ray; and Jennifer Barton. He was particularly proud of his grandchildren, including Bailee Lodholm, Kenzie Lodholm, Braxton Lodholm, Madison Lodholm, Witten Lopez, Ashton McCoy, Emma Lopez, Forrest Lopez, Dakota Lopez, Samara Highly, Zachary Highly, and Wesley Bitz. He was also great-grandfather to Rylee Lopez, River Lopez, Brexlee Lopez, and Caymen Lopez. He is also survived by his only sibling, sister Barbara Wilbanks, nephew Morgan Wilbanks, and niece Melissa Ryan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Crawford and mother Romana Straub Crawford.
