William L. "Bill" Hill

January 15, 1930 — September 23, 2015

Bill was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Carlsbad, N.M., to Finis and Rose Hill. He moved to Borger as a child, where he graduated from Borger High School in 1947. He then attended Draughn's Business College before enlisting in the Air Force. He served his country with much pride until his honorable discharge in 1954. He married Octavia "May" Lewis on Jan. 25, 1958, in Amarillo. They together raised their two daughters and enjoyed a full life together. She passed away in 1991. He was a resident of Amarillo more than 60 years, where he was in the real estate business. He married Betty Jane Cox on March 14, 1992, in Amarillo. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, dad and PaPa. He will be remembered for his mild manor and his love for his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He also was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Betty Ann Henderson, in 2013. Survivors include his wife, Betty Hill of Amarillo; two daughters, Holly Gwynn and Sherrilyn "Bitsy" Romero and husband Mark of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Cindy Walker of Amarillo; three stepsons, Gary Don Cox of St. John, USVI, Toby Jay Cox of Amarillo and Charlie Cox and wife Tami, all of Amarillo; nine grandchildren, Chris, Jennifer, Justin, Nicole, Ryan, Donovon, Jordon, Caytie and Taylor; and five great-grandchildren, Braden, Baylee, Riley, Matilee and Emery
