Bill was born in Ralls, Texas on July 18, 1928 to W.P. and Mary McKee. He graduated from Texas Tech as a petroleum engineer. He married Wistie on May 29, 1950 and they had five children.
In 1953, Bill began working for Pioneer Natural Gas Company (aka Energas, Atmos) and retired in 1988.
Bill & Wistie spent as much time as possible at "the cabin" outside of Creede, Colorado where Bill spent as much time as possible fly-fishing on the Rio Grande. Our family has thousands of memories (and photos) of our lives at "the cabin." We would cram all seven of us into a one room, 16' X 22' log cabin with a wood cook stove and a communal water pump out front and thrive for at least a week each year. We can never thank our parents enough for the memories, life lessons, adventures and up-bringing - and "the cabin" continues to build these same memories today for our next generations.
To the kids, Bill was "Dad" - to the grandkids, he was Dado - and to the great-grandkids, he was Super-Dado. Bill was the consummate "DAD" - he and Mom raised five kids, paying for food, shelter, clothing, doctor visits, college, cars, (and car wrecks) weddings, and vacations at "the cabin." After a lifetime of provision for others, we sometimes affectionately referred to him as Dado-Jireh. (You'll just have to read Genesis 22 to understand)
Bill loved family gatherings & loved to provide the grilled steaks to feed us - he loved playing bridge, cribbage and marathon games of hand & foot. His pride was his yard and garden. He was addicted to flowers. He won a couple of awards for the Best Yard in the Greenways where there still grow 5 foot columbines and 8 foot cosmos.
Bill went to heaven to be with His Lord and Savior on April 6, 2016, and as Jesus promised, Bill crossed over from death to life. Revelation 22 describes a river that flows from the throne of God - we're pretty sure that river is of the finest Gold Medal waters, dry fly only, catch and release!
We will miss his physical presence, but will endure a while longer with the memories he has left us, until "in the twinkling of an eye" we are all reunited in our real home!
Bill was preceded in death by Mom (Wistie) in 2007.
He is survived by his five children and their spouses:
Vicki & Keith Klem
