Bill Blake, 72, of Amarillo, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016.
The memorial will be at Lifeway Fellowship Friday, February 19, 2016 with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Local arrangements are by Cox Funeral Directors.
Bill was born May 17, 1943 in Amarillo to Erfal and Juanita Blake. He was raised in Amarillo where he graduated from Amarillo High School in 1961.
He joined the Navy in April of 1966. He was stationed in several locations before completing technical school in San Diego as an electrician's mate. He served on the aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La for three Mediterranean cruises and finished his military service in December of 1969.
After his military service, he moved to Vega, Texas and raised his family there. In addition to farming, he operated Blake Lumber and Supply and later owned and ran Blake Propane and Fertilizer before going into the oil and gas industry in 1984.
He married his present wife Kay in 1994 and they currently reside in Amarillo where she works in home health care while Bill continued to work in the oil and gas industry.
He was preceded in death by his mom, dad and brother Joe.
Survivors include his wife Kay, a brother Ronnie and his wife Lisa, a son Chad Blake and his wife Chris, a daughter Chonda Blake Brent and her husband Jay, son Bodee and wife LaCretia Baldwin, son Smokee Baldwin and Stephanie Godbee, 6 grandchildren, who called him "Poppy", Camden Lawhead, Colten Blake, Jordan Brent, Brokk Baldwin, Jhett Baldwin, and Jesse Baldwin.
