William Calvin Denney

April 5, 1930 — March 9, 2017

W. C. was born on April 5, 1930 in Amarillo to Alta Breeding and Ernest Denney. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1948 and attended radio electronics repair school in Kansas City, Missouri. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Korean conflict. He briefly attended Texas Technological College and married Lila G. Baker in 1956. He worked for various television and radio stations in the Amarillo and the Colorado Springs areas as a broadcast engineer before retiring to become a stay-at-home dad to his three daughters. He was fortunate to be able to realize his dream of living a farming and agricultural lifestyle before health problems forced him to move into Amarillo. W. C. was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Evan Ernest Denney and his sister Essie Lee Denney Purvis. He is survived by his wife, Lila, of Amarillo, his daughter Christine Kaufmann and husband Ronald Kaufmann of Cedar Park, his daughter Susan Denney and husband Luis Hernandez of Canyon, his daughter Gail Hooper and husband Donny Hooper of Pampa, his sisters Katherine Denney Blaylock, Thelma Denney Andrew and Maudene Denney Deane, seven grand-children and six great-grandchildren.
