Bowie was born Feb. 26, 1976, in Amarillo to Terry and Martha Ivie. He was raised in Amarillo, where he graduated from Highland Park High School in 1995. He married Vickie Musick on Aug. 20, 1999. He and Vickie had been devoted members of Church Alive, where he served as a bass player in the church worship team for more than nine years and was a board member, a finance auditor and a youth sponsor. Bowie went to work as a correctional officer for Jordan, Clements and Neal Units for three years before beginning his career in the grain elevator business. He worked for Amarillo Grain Exchange and Debruce and Gavilon before taking on a manager position with AGP in Lariat and Lazbuddie.
Bowie was a great husband and father as well as a loving "Papa" to his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a hero to his family and friends who will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Ivie; Papa and Mema Morris; an aunt, Becky Morris; his father-in-law, Royce Hawthorne; and a cousin David Shadix.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Ivie of Amarillo; his mother, Martha Burton and husband Tom of Amarillo; two children, Kaci Simmons and husband Breland of Amarillo and Dewayne Musick of Amarillo; his siblings, Shannon and Mike McCarroll of Longview, Jason and Jamie Burton of Ohio, Jeremey Burton of Felt, Okla., and Heather and Randy Wilson of Arkansas; three grandchildren, Ady, Peyton and Avrey; his grandmother, EvaGene Ivie of Amarillo; his aunts, Doris and Glenn Shadix of Amarillo and Kay Morris; his mother-in-law, Alta Hawthorne and Richard of Amarillo; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him dearly.
The family suggests memorials be to "Bam Bowie" Mission at Church Alive, 1819 Canadian Ave., Amarillo, TX 79108.
