William Brown Jr.

William Brown, Jr. 74, of Amarillo passed away November 23, 2017. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2017 at Cox Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Cox Funeral Home. William was born on July 20, 1943 in Childress to William and Annie Brown. He moved to Plainview, then California, settling in Amarillo in 1983. Here, William began employment at Tyson Foods in 1983, working until retirement in 2011. He was a hard worker and was known to be giving and generous to others. As a father, he was compassionate and understanding and always the defender and protector of his children. He enjoyed western movies, especially John Wayne and loved to visit the parks to enjoy the outdoors and loved dancing in his youth. He is survived by his children, Sharon Brown, William Brown, III. and wife Loretta and Lynn Brown and wife Andrea, all of Dallas, Evette Mathis of Plainview, Valerie Gwin and husband Eric of Spearman, Ronnie Brown of Amarillo, Francisco Garcia Jr. of Pampa, Daniel Martinez and wife Myriam, Monica Davis and husband Johnny and Debra Vongphrachanh and husband Daniel, all of Amarillo; sister, Hazel Cole of Denver, CO; 34 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Annie; brothers, Nathaniel Brown, J.D. Brown, W.B. Brown, Billy Brown and sisters, Earnestine Wallace, Dorothy Brown, Willie Brown and Ruth Britt.
