Willie Brown

Willie Brown, 92, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Harris, the Rev. Darryl Hershey and Pastor Todd Hunt officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Willie was born May 11, 1921, in Elgin to Alec and Emily Brown. He worked hard all of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Martha Mae Smith and Nettie Flora Brown; three sons, Roland Coleman, Freddie and Melvin Brown; a daughter, Hattie Ruth Coleman; 10 brothers; and four sisters. Survivors include a son, Johnnie Joe Brown and wife Margaret of Amarillo; a special granddaughter, Shelia Burns of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Lela Coleman of Waco; a special niece, Arlene Jackson of Amarillo; a special friend, Mary Gaither; a special cousin and sister, Durrell Reed-Houston of Midland; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
