Yolanda H. Puentes, 74, of Amarillo passed away on May 26, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. Celebration of Life services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Power Church, 1344 SE 10th, with Manny De Los Santos officiating. The family will be accepting friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Yolanda was born October 2, 1949 in Amarillo to Heriberto and Julia Herrera. She was one of 10 children. Yolanda attended and graduated from Caprock High School, where she was Prom Queen her Junior year. She married her high school sweetheart, Manuel Puentes on November 2, 1968. Together they shared 56 years of marriage, four daughters, and many memories. Yolanda was a woman of strong faith; her relationship with the Lord was very important to her. She was an active member of Power Church for the past five years. Yolanda enjoyed taking weekend road trips with her family, to go see and be with nature. She especially enjoyed travelling to Colorado. Yolanda loved to take risks, she was a true daredevil with her grandchildren from jumping on the trampoline to the famous tree swing everyone took turns on. She was always interacting with her children and grandchildren. Yolanda was truly everyone’s best friend whether it’d be giving the best advice to just listening to you. She genuinely had a caring heart. Yolanda had a beautiful memorable smile with her dimples. She loved to cook for her family especially for her husband, from baking her famous chocolate cakes to the best Spanish rice you would ever eat. Yolanda always took care of her husband, children and grandchildren with great pride. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Heriberto and Julia; three brothers, Ferando; Roland; Gilbert; one sister, Martha; one grandson, Jacob Martinez.
Survivors include her husband Manuel Puentes of the home; her four daughters, Teresa Martinez and husband Robin of Amarillo; Rosanna Bustos and husband Ambrose of Lubbock; Beatrice Dominguez of Amarillo; Leticia Gonzales of Amarillo; her 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and two more on the way; her brother, Javier Herrera and wife Marcella of Amarillo; and her four sisters, Ester Ballin and husband Tony of Amarillo; Ophelia Guzman of Amarillo; Hortencia Martinez and husband Lupe of Poteet, TX; Lupe Herrera of San Antonio, TX. Survivors also include a host of other family members and dear friends.
