Alan Miller Obituary

The grooviest husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. Alan Ivan Miller was called home suddenly at age 67, on April 2, 2021.

Born in Dallas, TX on October 16, 1953 to George Alan Miller and Pauline Jean Presti. Alan grew up in Roswell, NM and graduated from Vernon High School in 1971. He went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in History and Political Science from West Texas University in 1978.

Alan loved to tell stories of growing up as the son of a boy-scout leader, as an archery instructor, a comic book collector, and so many other passions. Alan loved his family with all his heart and was the proudest of his three daughters.  He learned the art of carving from his dad, and was known for his creative pistachio people.  He was a second father to many and a trusted friend. He taught his kids to live unapologetically and he told everyone to “let your freak flag fly”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Polly and his sister Paula Schneider of Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cindy, his daughters Mackenzie Helton, Ally Greenwood and husband Adam of Amarillo, and Ashley Miller of Dallas. Grandsons Swade and Kole Helton, Special family members Lissa Miller and Jim Schneider, many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

A private service will be held Tuesday followed by a life celebration welcome to all, at Crush Wine Bar rooftop 627 S Polk St, Amarillo, TX 79101 from 4:00- 6:00 PM.

In true Alan fashion, bright colors and tie-dye are highly encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a donation be made to the MS Society.
