Anita Mayfield Obituary

Anita Mayfield, 85, of Azle, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Llano East Cemetery, with Sam Collins officiating. Anita was born April 1, 1935 in Meadow, Texas to Charlie and Berta O’Bar. She graduated from high school in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Anita married the love of her life, Albert L. Mayfield on March 18, 1952 in Truth or Consequences. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage until Albert’s death in 2006. They were faithful members of the Church of Christ. Anita worked with Albert for many years at Mayfield Roofing Co., retiring in 1999. She dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was an excellent cook and baker, and was known for her wonderful fudge. Anita was also a very talented seamstress, and she enjoyed doing ceramics. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Anita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert L. Mayfield; three sons, Kenneth Charles Mayfield; Weldon Carroll Mayfield, and Terry Clyde Mayfield; a sister, Jimmie B. Sharp; and two grandchildren, Rodd Andrew Richmond and Christopher Cusenz. Survivors include two daughters, Janice Stallons and husband, Mike of Azle, and Deborah Lynn Cusenz and husband Scott of Florida; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials may be made to High Plains Children’s Home at www.hpch.org.
