Arla Jean Twombly Hiner, 69, of Amarillo, passed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, January 20,  2023. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, January 23, 2023 at Hillside Christian Church, 6100 Soncy. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM at Marella Cemetery near Texhoma, Oklahoma.

Arla was born on July 16, 1953 in Guymon, Oklahoma to Arthur and Billie Twombly. She was a graduate of North West Texas Hospital of Nursing in 1974 (as a new graduate she worked in the Infant Intensive Care and newborn nursery). Arla received her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in nursing from West Texas State University in Canyon in 1986.
She was a dedicated and hardworking nurse in the Amarillo medical community for over 25 years. She served as a RN to the community in many different capacities including: being one of the first nephrology and hemodialysis nurses in Amarillo, she also held many different positions within the North West Texas Hospital system as a Charge Nurse for the neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Staff Nurse for the Outpatient Clinic, Clinical Manager of OB-GYN floor. Later in her career, she became the Director of Clinical Services at Olsten Kimberly Quality Care. Anyone reading this would have no doubt of Arla’s drive to care for patients and families in need.

Arla enjoyed her family and spending quality time with her grandchildren. She loved being surrounded by her grandbabies, playing with them and giving them her valuable time. She enjoyed cooking and baking her Grandma Brown’s homemade bread recipe and sharing with others. Spending time at the family home in the mountains, at Eagle Nest, was her and the family’s favorite past time. Arla was heavily involved in the women’s ministry at Trinity Fellowship Church in Amarillo, assisting with counseling women of all ages. Above all, she devoted her life to Jesus Christ, and lived her life in accordance with the Word of God. She had an unwavering faith and enduring love for the Lord.

Arla was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her daughter, Amy Yott and husband Chris of Amarillo; her two grandchildren, Abbigail and Jamin Yott; her ex-husband of 47 years, William Hiner, who remained her close friend. Two brothers, Teddy Twombly and wife Trish (nephews Jacob and Caleb Twombly); and Randy Twombly and wife Rolisa, (nephews Matt Utzman (Mia), Josh Utzman (Bethany), and niece Brittany Sanders (Christ Watson), and 10 great nieces and nephews.
