Bettie S. Dockery, 83, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be at Llano East Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Bettie was born September 17, 1938 in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma to Samuel and Barbara Henderson. She grew up in Oklahoma, and married her husband Tom Dockery on March 13, 1956 in Anchorage, Alaska. Bettie dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a loving wife to Tom and mother to her own children and to many others. Bettie loved the Lord, and she loved investing her time and energy into people. She worked for Walmart and Sam’s, and liked collecting cookie jars. Bettie was a longtime member of South Georgia Church of the Nazarene. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom Dockery; a son, Mike Dockery; a granddaughter, Nichole Willits; five sisters, Joan Ford, Patricia Sherrill, Jackie McIntyre, Irma Carlton, and Mary Lee Pope; and a brother, Huey Cooley.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Dockery and Jimmy Dockery both of Amarillo, and Keith Dockery (Diane) of Tulsa, OK; two daughters, Gena Dockery (Mike Lang) and Melanie Dockery all of Amarillo; three sisters, Jane Hobbs of Amarillo, Oma Faye Reynolds of Norman, OK, and Eva Mae Stewart and husband Jimmy of Mustang, OK; a brother, Arthur Cooley of Wilberton, OK; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
