Bettye Jordan Obituary

Bettye Ruth Kennedy Jordan, 73, of Claude, passed away on April 27, 2021 at 7:58pm. Memorial services be 10:00 AM Saturday May 1, 2021 at Crossroads Country Church located at 14425 FM 1541 (S. Washington Street), with Pastor Bob Miller officiating. A private family burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley funeral home.

Bettye was born March 23, 1948 in Tulia, Texas to John Ralph and Peggy Jean (Spann) Kennedy. She was a 1965 graduate of Claude High School and played basketball for the Claude Mustangettes, and was the Basketball Queen her Senior Year.

She married Jerry Wayne Jordan on April 14th, 1966 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Amarillo, Texas. She was the mother of three "onery" sons. She worked for Claude ISD, Cargill, ASCO, Billy Campsey CPA, & AIG after the boys started school. She and Jerry were avid square dancers, and were cross country truck drivers. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed cooking holiday & family dinners for her large family and friends. She was the very best Nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going to watch them play sports. She was a mother to all, and will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers; Johnny Lee Kennedy and Terry Mack Kennedy.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Jordan of Claude, sons Nick (Angie) Jordan of Amarillo, Justin Jordan of Amarillo, Collin (Shelly) Jordan of Boulder, Montana. Grandchildren; Brieanne, Dalton, Skyler, Noelle, Zach, Casey, Cody, Lauren and Sonya. Great grandchildren; Hayden, Beckham,Axel and Diamond. Her Aunt, Dusty Kennedy of North Richland Hills; several cousins; and her beloved dog, Jersey.

The family would like to thank the doctors and 5th floor nursing staff at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital, Texas Home Health & Hospice, & Liz Ryan for the love and care provided to Bettye during this time.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
