Sometimes a light will shine so bright, even when it is no longer present, a glow is left behind. That is what Beverly Jeanne Hughes Robinson has done as she departed from this earth April 21, 2022.
Beverly was born in Clovis, NM on October 19, 1949 to Leroy and Christine Hughes but moved and grew up in the small community of Hartley, TX. She is one of five beloved siblings and was the second oldest. They grew up in the small farming community where Beverly was known as a vivacious, fun-loving daughter, sister, friend, and athlete. She met and began dating the love of her life, Randal, in high school in that small community. They began their own legacy once they married on October 3,1970 but stayed deeply connected to both of their core families. With Randal, they had three children of their own, Todd, Brooke, and Jeff. They spent many years out on the ranch experiencing a rich life, not void of adventure. Beverly could jump a snake to get in the house and then jump that same snake again to kill it. She wasn’t afraid to drop her kids off on the dirt road and make them walk home while she drove ahead in order to get them over their fighting or bad manners.. all while giggling the rest of the way home because she really didn’t get that mad. She could decorate a small farmhouse or a new brick home and either way, it felt warm and welcoming and… well… like home. She could make a garden look like a magazine cover, but it still be a place kids and dogs could romp and tromp.
They left the country life behind and moved to Amarillo in 1983 where they finished raising their children and have been since, creating a life filled with love, service, and Jesus. Beverly loved her family and friends and the only thing she loved more was her Savior. When she could combine the two, her life was near perfection. Whether doing hair at the salon, going to serve on the reservations of New Mexico with her sister and niece; attending women’s functions with her daughter and family; or sitting on her back porch with her bible open praying for the rest of us, if she could be loving on people with her love of Jesus, she was content. And it is with that knowledge that we find hope that her body is whole and perfected, and she will spend her eternity doing the things she loved the most right beside our Savior.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Christine Hughes, her grandson, Eathan Robinson, and some beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She is survived by her sweetheart, Randal Robinson, of the home; Todd Robinson (Robin) of Houston, Brooke Scott (Mitchell) of Amarillo, and Jeff Robinson (Misti) of Chicago. They are also survived by 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Barbara Kay Morris, Stanley Hughes (Jean), Tinna Hood (Benny), and Bryan Hughes (Laurie) whom she loved so very much; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends… all who loved her deeply and whom have been loved deeply by her.
In memorandum, plant a flower, tend a garden, and definitely tend some hearts for Jesus to honor her legacy. If you are so inclined memorial donations can be sent to creatingforcare.com/donations to the foundation that honors the legacy of her grandson.
