Billie Jo Clifton, 91, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, May 5, 2020. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Roaring Springs Cemetery. Billie Jo was born February 2, 1929 in Lubbock, Texas to Loyd and Mary Thomas. She attended school in Northfield and graduated from Roaring Springs High School. She married Clyde D. Clifton on October 20, 1946 in Spur. They enjoyed 45 years together before he preceded her in death in 1991. They were lifelong residents of Roaring Springs. Billie Jo worked for many years as the postmistress in Dougherty, and moved to Amarillo in 2001. She was a talented quilter, and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles. She adored her cats. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Clifton; a sister, Katie Wade; and a great-grandson, Dub Diette. Survivors include three sons, Maurice Clifton and wife Jane of Amarillo, Ronnie Clifton and wife Mona of Comanche, Larry Clifton and wife Deidra of Tuscola; seven grandchildren, Jamia Diette and husband Dan, Landy Clifton and wife Amy, Jill Thomason and husband Jeff, Kim Clifton, Megan Clifton, Monica Smith and husband Tanner, and Skylar Clifton; seven great-grandchildren, Josey Clifton, Karley Clifton, Kole Lively, Payton Thomason, Trystan Thomason, Cutter Smith, Jaxson Smith; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to The Roaring Springs Cemetery Association, PO Box 360, Roaring Springs, TX 79256.
