Cathy Susan Smith

Cathy Susan Smith, 69 of Amarillo, passed away surrounded by her family. Heaven gained the most beautiful angel on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 11:39 a.m. Cathy was born March 19, 1950 in San Diego, California to Thomas and Mary Smith. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandma, nana, aunt and most of all a true friend to all. Cathy battled and overcame cancer three times, in fact getting the “All Clear” just five weeks ago. If she was sick or felt bad, you would never have known it. She would drop everything and show up with a smile and a listening ear, if you needed her. Cathy loved the Lord and would share him and her testimony with everyone. She wanted her family to know and trust him as she did. Cathy was very active in the recovery community and impacted many women’s lives while serving as a support aid at The Haven House. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with them. Cathy’s grandchildren were her world and if you knew her, you probably felt like you knew them. She enjoyed going to bingo and playing slot machines at the casino. Cathy never went anywhere without a Dr. Pepper in one hand and an extra in her purse. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Cathy’s family knows that she can hear them say “rest now beautiful, we got this…..” She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister. Cathy is survived by her daughters, Shannon Railsback and husband Eddie and Susan Burt and JD Bybee; a sister, Linda Golden and husband Raymond; three grandchildren, Devin Railsback and wife Lindsey, Addison Buecker and wife Summer and Ciara Railsback and Aric Walton; four great-granddaughters, Skylyn, Addilyn, Rexilyn and Haisley and many nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials donations to The Downtown Women’s Center or ASPCA.
