Charles Leslie "Les" Garrett, 66, of Amarillo passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. Les was born on June 28, 1952 in Amarillo to Clarence and Dovie Garrett. He was raised in Amarillo, where he graduated from Tascosa High School in 1970. He then attended Texas Tech University before enlisting in the United States Army in 1971. He proudly served for 20 years, stationed mostly in Germany. He earned 1 Meritorious Service Medal, 6 Army Commendation Medals and 2 Army Achievement Medals before his honorable discharge as a Master Sergeant (Ret.) in 1991. Les married Neva Davee in 1999 in Amarillo. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling (scoring a perfect 300 game.) He also enjoyed golfing and fishing the lakes of Texas. He was an avid sports fan, and especially loved his Texas Tech Red Raiders and Dallas Cowboys. Above all, Les loved his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his family. Les is survived by his wife Neva Garrett of Amarillo; 2 daughters, Isabell Schneider and husband Stephen of Frisco and Jennifer Hudson and husband Toby of Amarillo; sister, Lynn Brown and husband Randy of Canyon; 4 grandchildren, Will Schneider, Emmy Schneider, Clayton Hudson and Dagny Hooten; 3 nephews and 1 niece. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence Garrett; 2 step-daughters, Melanie Hooten and Amanda Davee and a grandchild, Macie Hooten.
