Charlie Gene Darnell

Charlie Gene Darnell, 82, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday March 27, 2023. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday March 29, 2023 at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2215 N Price Rd. in Pampa, with Pastor Randy Srader. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Charlie was born on July 30, 1940 to Huley and Hazel Darnell in Memphis, Texas. He graduated from Hedley High School in 1958. Charlie married his wife, Doralean Burns on November 28, 1959. They made their home in Amarillo for the last 34 years. Together Charlie and Doralean celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Charlie worked as the route man and general manager for Coca Cola for 25 years and also worked 17 years for Interstate Brand Route Sales. He attended Bell Avenue Baptist Church. Charlie enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and golfing. He specifically liked to hunt deer, quail and rabbit. Charlie enjoyed spending time with his family most. He is loved by many and will be missed greatly.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doralean Darnell, and one sister, Christine Darnell.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Cyndi Martin and husband David of Crossville, TN and Kimi Drake and husband Wesley of Amarillo; grandchildren, Nichole Stamps and husband Josh of Crossville, TN, Kimberly Rollins and husband Steven of Amarillo and Christina Jones and husband Adam, also of Amarillo; survivors also include his seven great grandchildren, three brothers and his nieces and nephews.
