Cherry Alexander Obituary

Cherry Lynn Alexander, 77, went into the arms of her Lord and Savior Friday, February 14, 2020. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 22, at 11am at Briarwood Church in Pampa with Lynn Hancock, pastor of Briarwood, and Scott Higginbotham, pastor of Temple Baptist officiating.  Arrangements are being handled by Cox-Rowley Funeral Home

Cherry was born to Helen and Vernon Graham on March 21, 1942 in Brownwood, Texas.  She graduated from Graham High School in 1960, and on June 11, 1960 she married the love of her life, Alvin Alexander. The happy couple lived in Olney and Coleman before settling in Pampa in 1965 where, except for a brief time in Ulysses, Kansas, they spent their lives together.

Cherry enjoyed being outdoors working in her yard and tending a garden.  One of her favorite things was being with her family.  She loved the Lord and looked forward to weekly Bible studies.  Cherry was a member of Briarwood Church in Pampa until she moved to Amarillo last March, where she joined Temple Baptist Church.

Cherry was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a grandson, Michael Powell.

She is survived by her sister, Peggy Kautzky and husband Dan of San Tan Valley, Arizona, a daughter Terri Powell and husband Edward of Amarillo, sons Steve and wife Vigdis of Pampa, and David and wife Kathy of Warsaw, Missouri.  She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Amanda Gay & husband Mike, Tabitha Rippetoe & husband Max all of Amarillo, Cheryl Wilson & husband Lee, and Tyler Alexander of Casper, Wyoming, Cassie Solis and Gerardo Lucio of Canyon, Texas, Cody Newton of Pampa, Anthony Alexander of Kansas, Nicholas Alexander of North Kansas City, Missouri, 21 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Legacy Rehabilitation & Living, the staff at BSA Hospital, and the staff at BSA Hospice of the Southwest.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Briarwood Church in Pampa or Temple Baptist Church in Amarillo.
