Chester "Dale" Scobey SR

Chester “Dale” Scobey Sr. 79, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday November 7, 2023. Funeral services will be Saturday November 11, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home with Pastor Bradley Speer. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 PM Friday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Dale was born on November 10, 1943, in Amarillo, Texas to Chester and Lorna Scobey.  He attended Amarillo public schools and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1961. Shortly after graduating he enlisted in the Army. Dale married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Cathy on December 22, 1962. They spent over 60 years together before his passing. Cathy was Dale’s favorite person.  Dale enjoyed taking his family fishing at the cabins every year in Creed, Colorado. He loved flyfishing and he also enjoyed hunting with his brother Danny. Dale loved his sister Roberta very much.  He also enjoyed shooting pistols, but his favorite thing to do was to sit in his chair and watch old Westerns.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Cathy of the home, one daughter Tracie Lynn Rodriguez and husband Rudy of Springtown, Texas; and one son Dale Scobey Jr and wife Mary of Amarillo; one brother Danny Scobey and wife Barbara of Austin, Texas; one sister Roberta Davis of Amarillo, Texas; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ron and Carolyn Stiles; four grandchildren, Katherine Rodriguez and husband Fernando of Fort Worth, Tx, Jonathon Rodriguez of Denver, Co, Zachary Scobey, and Mia Scobey of Amarillo, Texas.
