Dale Miller

Dale Miller, 75, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday October 21, 2023. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Monday October 30, 2023 at First Baptist Church sanctuary, 1208 S Tyler St. with Pastor Howard Batson Officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday October 29, 2023 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. Dale will be laid to rest at 10:00 AM Monday October 30, 2023 at Llano Cemetery.

Dale had a passion for the Old West and horses from a young age.  In 1987 he bought his first horses, eventually starting and raising five over the years. He studied and read up on horsemanship throughout. He enjoyed trail rides and was always the camp cook (rule 1: Don’t ride your horse through camp!). His Dutch oven blueberry cobbler and stewed cinnamon apples were always a hit.  Another dream fulfilled: He built his own ranch style house on 20acres north of Amarillo. He also had a creative knack for drawing and watercolor painting and woodworking. Dale became a Journeyman Carpenter in 1978 and spent 45yrs in the trade (Lead Carpenter, Forman & Superintendent) with Page and Wirtz Construction and finally 23 yrs. with Western Builder’s before retiring in 2016. He was in the Carpenter’s Local 665 in Amarillo for 45+ yrs. and was President of that local for 23yrs. straight until retirement. He was a craftsman and loved the solving challenges on the jobsite.  “Adios, I’ll see ya, when I see ya…”

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Laurel and H. Nick Miller.

Survivors include his son, Nicholas M. Miller & wife Teriann, siblings Laurelee Oakley & husband Jay, Richard Miller & wife Connie, nieces Jody Simpson & husband Brian, Lindsay Hurst & husband Gene, Leah Dawson & husband Rhett, and six great nieces and nephews.
