Danny Small, 78, of Amarillo, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 5, 2020. Viewing will be from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm Thursday. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Danny was born April 10, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to William and Juanita Small. He graduated from Midwest City High School in Oklahoma City, and attended college in Price, Utah. He worked as a union electrician for most of his career, which resulted in the family moving several times for Danny’s job. Danny loved to explore the country, coast to coast. He was an avid elk and deer hunter, including bow hunting. Danny had quite a few project vehicles over the years. He enjoyed fixing and building things. He also adored his dogs. Danny will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Bob Blenkin; two daughters, Ronda Rogers and Zalinda Baldridge; two brothers, Douglas Dewitt and Lonnie Small; and a sister, Barbara Strait. Survivors include his wife, Jean Small; two sons, Rocky Patton of Amarillo, and Danny McCollum and wife Rose of Flowery Branch, GA; a daughter, Joy Patton and Bryan Denny of Amarillo; a sister, Patricia Nardine and husband Mike of Rochester, MN; six grandchildren, Josh Rogers, Jamme Henry, Sherydyn Patton, Shala White, Makaila McCollum, and Madison McCollum; and five great-grandchildren, Caydance, Ronni, Chevella, Bryson, and Dallas. The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
