Deana Hooks, 66, of Amarillo, passed away on January 16, 2023 in Amarillo. Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 AM Thursday January 19, 2022 at Washington Avenue Christian Church, 3800 S Washington Street, With Pastor Alfonso Delgado officiating. Services are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
Deana was born on March 30, 1956 in Amarillo to Joe and Katherine Stephens. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1974 and remained a proud Palo Duro Don her whole life. Deana enjoyed spending time in her garden, planting and growing new things. She had a green thumb and was known for bringing plants back to life. Deana was an avid baker and also enjoyed arts and crafts. She was a diehard NASCAR fan. It’s also worth mentioning, Deana had a never ending obsession with Diet Coke, and it remained her drink of choice until her last days.
Deana was a dedicated “Mama” and “Nana” to her family and really anyone else she felt needed to be loved on. She gave her love freely and never met a stranger. Deana’s love was extremely contagious, and she made sure everyone around her knew it. She always had a good sense of humor, making those around her feel comfortable and content. She loved and was loved by so many.
Deana was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Hooks and one daughter, Kathy Stephens.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Tim Hooks and wife Leslie; son, Koby Hooks; daughters, Leigh Ann Dominguez and husband Antonio, Erica Cantrell and husband Christopher and Kyleigh Hooks all of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Kaylynn, Keedan, Kenlie, Kenna, Kaybreigh, Ember, Braiden and Braylee; three brothers, Tommy Stephens and wife Marilyn, Jimmy Stephens and wife Joyce, Charles Stephens and wife Linda; several nieces, nephews, bonus children and grandchildren, and of course her Diet Coke.
