Elizabeth “Liz” Looney, 75, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022. Celebration of Life services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Rev. Ken Cole officiating.
Liz was born September 19, 1946 in Blue Mountain, Arkansas to Chester and Margaret Mobley. She graduated from Amarillo High School. Liz married the love of her life, Jack Looney, Jr. on October 10, 1975. They enjoyed 42 years of marriage until his death in 2017.
Liz worked as a bookkeeper at Amarillo High School, before she and Jack went into business together. They co-owned and operated Quality Respiratory for over 20 years. They also owned several real estate properties over the years. In her spare time, Liz was a master gardener and avid reader. She loved spending time with her husband and enjoyed keeping her grandkids whenever she could. People were drawn to Liz; she enjoyed many friendships, some from as far back as high school. She was a lover of animals and enjoyed playing Skip-Bo. Liz and Jack were devoted members of Saint Stephen United Methodist Church for 42 years.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Looney, Jr.; and her sister, Ellen Gibbs.
Survivors include two sons, Heath Looney of Amarillo; Chad Looney and wife Ashley of McKinney, TX; a daughter, Blair Timmons of Amarillo; and five grandchildren, Piper Looney, Dylan Looney, Mathan Looney, Noah Looney and Steven Timmons.
