Elizabeth "Lizzie" Kesterson Obituary

Elizabeth Kay Kesterson of Amarillo, affectionately known to her family and friends as Lizzie, passed away September 2, 2022 at the age of 50. Memorial service for Lizzie will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 2 pm at Hillside Christian Church- Northwest Campus 600 Tascosa Rd, with Pastor Chris Condit officiating. She was born in Borger, Texas and was the third of four daughters born to Joe and Kay Kesterson. Lizzie attended Borger High School and Amarillo College. She was a free spirit and enjoyed rock music, concerts, the beach and watching old sitcoms and movies. Her family and many friends would describe her as extremely intelligent, sweet and funny.

In the end, Lizzie succumbed to cancer; however, in typical Lizzie fashion, she defied the odds and those who knew her and loved her were blessed with an additional six years with her. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her love and faith in Jesus Christ sustained her as she ministered to others through her words and actions. Lizzie love of family, her courage, positivity, and tenacity during her illness, along with her complete trust in the Lord magnified her beautiful soul. This beautiful soul and her infectious laugh will never be minimalized nor forgotten.

Lizzie is preceded in death by her precious son Tyler Shopteese; her father Joe Kesterson; and her oldest sister Jill Kesterson.

She is survived by three daughters: Lauren Barrett of Amarillo TX; Brittany Kesterson of Fritch TX; Kesten Sperry and husband Will of Turkey, TX. Grandchildren: Troy, Brayden, Shayd and Charlee. Lizzie is also survived by her mother Kay Kesterson of Amarillo, older sister Amy Lowery and husband Gene of Dalhart; younger sister, Erin Dauer and husband Russell of Amarillo along with several aunts, uncles, and numerous nieces and nephews.
