Obituary

Elzeta Hefley, of Amarillo passed away peacefully on July 23, 2022 at the age of 82. Memorial services will be held Saturday 11:00 am, July 30, 2022 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home with Larry Virnau officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Elzeta was born in Matador, Texas to Glea and Luree Moseley. She married Joe Earl Pyle of Tulia, Texas and they had three children; Kerry, Steve, and Stacy. Elzeta attended Amarillo Business College where she studied typing and secretarial work. She met and married Alvis Benjamin “A.B.” Hefley and moved to Walsh, Colorado in the late 1960’s and lived the farm and ranch life for over 20 years. She was a dedicated wife and mother and lived life to the fullest.

Elzeta moved to Amarillo in 1990 and was a self-employed owner of a Mr. Payroll. She enjoyed working at the Tri-State fair grounds and attending the Tri-State Fair & Rodeo along with her annual trips to Las Vegas to the National Finals Rodeo. Elzeta treasured her trips to Kansas to visit her sister Sandra and her husband Bob where she always felt at home helping attend to their farm and ranch.

Elzeta maintained everlasting friendships with a few special ladies over the years and enjoyed traveling, fishing, dancing, golfing, and spending time with her lifelong friends. She enjoyed the country life and always a offered a smile, and it showed how much she loved people and wanted others to be happy. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Elzeta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvis Benjamin “A.B” Hefley; and one brother, Milton Moseley.

Survivors include two sons, Kerry Pyle of Oklahoma City, and Steve Pyle of Austin; one daughter, Stacy Pyle of Kansas City; three grandchildren, Shawn Hume of Dodge City, Brandy Yosten of Amarillo, and Nathan Pyle of Kansas City; one great-grandchild, Easton Yosten; one sister, Sandra Davis of Kinsley, Kansas. Survivors also include a host of extended family and beloved friends that she considered family.

Flowers are welcome; Contributions may also be sent the Alzheimer’s Association in Elzeta’s name.
