Ernie Alfred, 90, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
Ernie was born January 22, 1931 in Checotah, Oklahoma to George and Elise Alfred. He married the love of his life, Euna Jean Bean on May 16, 1952 in Checotah. They moved to Texas for the last time in 1962, and have lived at the Palisades since 1968. Ernie worked as an electronics tech for AISD for 25 years until his retirement. In his spare time, Ernie enjoyed gardening, feeding the deer and turkeys near the house, and watching westerns on TV. He taught his grandkids to swim in the creek nearby. He enjoyed traveling to Red Rock Canyon in Oklahoma. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Gene Alfred.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Euna Jean Alfred; two sons, Stanley Alfred and wife Frita, and Frankie Dale and wife Frankie Lee all of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Sheila Martinez and husband Ronnie, David Alfred, Stephanie Smith, Stacy Cruz and husband Frank, Michael Alfred and Anthony Alfred; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Village of Palisades Volunteer Fire Dept.
