Evelyn A. “Pat” Brown, 95, of Amarillo passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Friday, October 9, 2020, at Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum with Pastor Doug Gehm of Grace Church officiating. Pat will be available for viewing Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 12:00 – 8:00 PM at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
Pat was born in Wanganui, New Zealand on April 13, 1925, to George and Ivy Taylor. She immigrated to the United States on a ship in 1946 and crossed the International Dateline on her 21st birthday, so she was able to celebrate twice! She settled in Pampa, TX, where she met Coleman Brown. They were married in March of 1948. They moved to Borger, TX and lived there until 1966. During this time, Pat became a U.S. citizen in the summer of 1957. She moved to Amarillo in 1983, when her husband retired. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing bridge, painting and crocheting. She was very social and had many friends at The Continental where she enjoyed living for the last four years.
She is survived by her son, Ray Brown and wife Jessie; granddaughters Kim McCarver and husband Kevin, Jennifer Longbine and husband Rick; great-grandchildren Chad Wade, Chess Wade, Shelbi Hunt and husband Keith and Kristen Cooper; brothers Colin Taylor and wife Shirley of Auckland, New Zealand; sister-in-law Lennys Taylor, Queensland, Australia, Barry Taylor of Hamilton, New Zealand; as well as, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 67 years Coleman Brown, sister Judy and brother Kevin Taylor.
