Fred Rangel Obituary

Fred Rangel, 79, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Trinity Fellowship Church, 5000 Hollywood Rd. with Pastor Kyle Wilkinson officiating. Burial will follow at Llano East Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Fred was born January 21, 1942 in Alice, Texas. His parents were Pete and Angelita Rangel. He graduated from Borger High School, and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army. He served from 1961-1969, during the Vietnam War, and was stationed in Korea, Berlin and Vietnam. Fred was extremely proud of his service to his country. He worked as a letter carrier for USPS for 37 years, retiring in 2005. Fred married Jennette Arrington on August 29, 2013 in Amarillo. Fred was very involved with and served as past president of the Texas Panhandle War Memorial. He enjoyed playing golf, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lori Martinez; three sisters, Emilia Resendez, Eva Sena and Angie Walsh; and two brothers, Victor Sosa and Jessie Rangel.

Survivors include his wife, Jennette Rangel; two sons, Randy Rangel and wife, Michelle of Amarillo, and Ronny Rangel and wife Shari of Arkansas; two daughters, Elizabeth McDonald and husband, Mike of Frisco, TX and Rhonda Wilson and husband Jeff of Lavon, TX; five sisters, Guadalupe San Miguel of Toledo, OH, Sandy Medina of Frisco, TX, Alice Sasueda of Denton, TX, Lucy Walser and husband Tommy, and Josie Walser and husband Ken all of Borger; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials may be made to The Texas Panhandle War Memorial, 4101 S. Georgia St. Amarillo, TX 79110.
