Melvin Glenn Young. 76, of Amarillo went to his heavenly home Easter Sunday, April 9th, 2023.
Services are to be held at First Baptist Church of Amarillo, 1208 S Tyler on Friday April 14, 2023 at 2:00PM. Burial will be at Memorial Park immediately following the service. Visitation will be held on Thursday April 13th from 5-7pm at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
Melvin Glenn Young was born March 6, 1947 to Ira and Louise Young in Wheeler, Texas. He was born the second child of five children. Glenn was raised in Amarillo, Texas. He attended San Born elementary, Horace Man Middle school, and graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1966. Glenn joined the United States Navy March of 1966 and was discharged March of 1972. He went to work for his dad at the Amarillo Armored car service. When he left there he spent 19 years at Wilburn brothers as a welder. After that he went to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice where he spent fourteen years and he retired from TDCJ in 2003.
Glenn is survived by his wife Wanda Young of 53 years, Amy White and her husband Hughlen and their two boys Mark and Michael White of Weatherford, Texas, Jeremy and Janet Young and their four legged fur-baby Molly of Toledo, Ohio, and Amanda Atchley her husband Scott and their three kids Madeline and, Alexandra Rue, and Jim Charles Atchley of Amarillo, TX.
