Helen B. Cruz, 85, of Amarillo, died Sunday, June 14, 2020. No services are scheduled at this time. Helen was born March 22, 1935 in Clayton, New Mexico to Jose and Estella Blan. She attended Clayton High School. She married Ernest Cruz, and they were married 56 years until he passed away in 2010. Helen moved to Amarillo in 1996. She was a Jehovah’s Witness, and was a member of the Pleasant Valley Congregation. She worked for Downtown Women’s Center for several years. In her spare time, Helen enjoyed reading, sewing, doing crossword puzzles, and watching cowboy shows on TV. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Cruz; a son, John Cruz, III; and three brothers, Jose Blan, Jr., Gilbert Blan; and Marcey Blan. Survivors include two sons, Ernie Cruz and wife Vanessa, and Dave Cruz all of Amarillo; a daughter, Dorothy of Kernersville, North Carolina; three sisters, Rosella Larranga and husband Severo of Albuquerque, NM, Vaida Blan and Frances Blan of Clayton, NM; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
