Ira Jay Adams, 70, passed away on December 31, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Saturday January 8, 2022 at St. John Baptist Church at 2301 NW 14th Street with Pastor Anthony Harris officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. Family asks guests to please wear a mask.
Ira Jay Adams was born January 28, 1951 to Fred and Leola Adams in Clinton, OK. He attended Elk City High School. Ira went on to Job Corps in Missouri for Construction. He married Geneva Hughes on March 30, 1973 in Quannah, TX. Together they shared 48 years of marriage, three beautiful children, and many amazing memories together. Ira loved his family fiercely, he would take care of them in every way. He was a good husband, father and grandfather. Ira was a dependable man. He loved to fish. Ira was the ultimate jokester, the “Bernie Mac” of the family. Ira will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Leola Adams; sister, Pauline Morris; brother, Rafe Adams; one son, Charles Adams; and one grandchild Clifton Monroe.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Adams of the home; one daughter, Ericka Adams Jefferson and husband Renny of Oklahoma City, OK; one son, Fredrick Adams of Amarillo; five grandchildren,
Kerstin, Kamon, Jaylynn, Jalimah, Charlette; and one great-great son, Awesome. Survivors also include a host of other family members.
