Issiah Carter Obituary

Issiah Carter, 61, formerly of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Greater Love Temple, 811 S. Tennessee, with Rev. Herman Moore of Carter’s Chapel officiating. Apostle George Lee Johnson from Aurora, Colorado will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will be at Llano East Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Issiah was born April 3, 1958, in Amarillo, Texas to Issiah and Emma Carter. He worked in home health care for many years. His true passion was serving people through pastoring for many years of his life at several different churches. Issiah never missed church. He was a talented musician, who enjoyed singing, playing piano and organ. He loved taking pictures. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Issiah Carter, Jr.; a son, David Alan Carter; and sister, Joyce Ross. Survivors include his wife, Sheila Carter of Amarillo; his mother, Emma Foster and husband James; two sons, Elijah Carter and wife Jazmine, and Issiah “I. J.” Carter all of Albuquerque, NM; four daughters, Urusla Johnson and husband Albert of Albuquerque, NM, Alisha Carter and husband D.P. Patterson of Seattle, WA, Teriqua Carter of New Orleans, LA, and Nizhoni Carter of Albuquerque, NM; several siblings, Terry Carter of Amarillo, Essie Carter of Amarillo, Jerry Carter and wife Gail Carter of Amarillo, Sean Carter and wife Amber Carter Amarillo, John Carter of Arlington, Tony Carter of Amarillo, Marsha Carter, James Foster of Tennessee, Martha Welch and husband Joseph Welch of Amarillo, Joseph Foster of Amarillo, Betty Johnson and husband Micheal Johnson of Amarillo, and Gloria Baker of Amarillo; grandchildren, Bresha Johnson, Braetorrian Johnson, Amori Johnson, Tajgi Johnson, Darius Patterson, Dahkyla Patterson, Darnell Patterson, Issiah Michael Carter, Ja'Torion Carter, Caden Burns, Zaniyah Carter, Eliza Carter, Zanisha Stockman, and Nelson Stockman; and many nieces and nephews.
