Jeff Cole Obituary

 

Jeff Cole, 74, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on May 24, 2022.

Memorial services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday May 28, 2022 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral home with Elijah Sou will be officiating. Military honors will be presented by Volley’s for Veteran’s and Patriot Guard Riders of Amarillo.

 

Jeff Cole was born November 19, 1947 in Sonora, California to Annie Arlene Cole and Donald West Cole. He grew up in Delhi, California in the most loving home with his parents and 10 siblings. Jeff went to Livingston High School until he was drafted in the United States Army at 18 years old in 1967, where he also received his GED and fought in the Vietnam War. Two years later, he was honorably discharged and received multiple Army commendation awards for his acts of heroism while in service. He returned home met the love of his life, Evelyn White at a diner in Livingston, California, whom he married in 1971. They moved from California to Missouri and broke down in Amarillo, Texas.  They spent their lives here building their homes and making friends everywhere they turned for the 41 years that followed.
 

Jeff always tried to help everyone he could and would be the parent you needed even if he didn't know how. He was so strong-willed and hardworking, beyond loving and care free. Jeff loved being around his family and siblings laughing and picking on everyone he could. He never stopped working even after he retired he loved taking care of his home, garden, children, grandchildren and pets and traveling with his wife.
 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Robert Von Gunten; Jack Von Gunten; Fred Von Gunten; two sisters, Jean Von Gunten; Ruby Von Gunten; his loving wife Evelyn Cole.

 

 Survivors include his son, Monte J. Cole of Tomahawk, WI; his daughter, Miracle Cole of Amarillo, TX; his five sisters, Velva Matthews of Redding, CA; Linda Lucas of Amarillo, TX; Bernice Von Gunten of Delhi, CA; Helen Von Gunten of Denair, CA; Doris Butcher of Delhi, CA; one brother, Kenneth Von Gunten of Delhi, CA; his four grandchildren, Dustin Cole and wife Jessica of Tulsa, OK; Desriee Cole of Pampa, TX; Dakota Cole of Oregon; Keeli Byford and partner Bishop Woodruff of Amarillo, TX.
