Jeffna Cay Cope Cox, 49, of Amarillo passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Happy. Jeffna was born November 16, 1970 in Canyon, TX to Jim and Eddie (Holland) Cope. Jeffna graduated from Tulia High School in 1989 and earned an Associates degree in radiology from Amarillo College. Jeffna married Bruce Cox in 1996. Bruce and Jeffna lived in Canadian and Tulia and then raised their daughters in Happy before recently moving to Amarillo. Bruce and Jeffna are members of First Baptist Happy. Bruce served our country in the Navy Seabees and served in Iraq while Jeffna cared for the kids.
Jeffna loved animals of all kinds and worked at Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare. Jeffna was active in Blue Lives Matter in support of Bruce’s 19 years with the Amarillo Police Department. She enjoyed crafting and travelling – New York City and London were two of her favorites.
Jeffna is survived by her husband of 23 years, Bruce; two daughters, Jaycie Cox and her husband Adam of Amarillo and Devin Cox of Lubbock; her father, Jim Cope of Happy; a sister, Joda Crow and her husband Greg of Carrollton and many nieces and nephews. Jeffna was preceded in death by her mother Eddie Cope.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in Jeffna’s memory may be given either to the Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare Department at 3501 S Osage St, Amarillo TX 79118 or the Amarillo Police Department Benefit Fund at 200 SE 3rd, Amarillo TX 79101.
