Jerry Lee Bynum, 80, of Amarillo, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021. No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
Jerry was born on November 28, 1940 in Morse, Texas to Horace and Effie Bynum. He was a United States Veteran; while serving in the Army he was stationed in Hawaii. Jerry married his wife Lois in April of 1970 and they spent over fifty years together. He worked as a truck driver for most of his life and was a devoted employee, always remembered for his hard work and dedication. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and being a father figure to additional children that needed him. He often would take in neighborhood children when they needed a safe place to stay. Jerry's children remember their father as the kind of man that did more for others than himself. Jerry loved family cookouts especially cooking burgers; in his later years, he and his wife would spend their spare time on the porch watching the neighborhood kids play. He will be missed by many. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Lois Bynum of the home; one daughter, Kellee Everitt and husband Chris; three sons, Eric Bynum and wife Rebecca, Brent Bynum and Brett Bynum all of Amarillo and eight grandchildren.
