Jerry Calahan Obituary

Jerry Calahan, 71, of Canyon, passed away on Monday May 11, 2021 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Friday May 28, 2021 at South Plains Baptist Church in South Plains, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley funeral home.

Jerry was born on December 18, 1949 in Lockney to Shelby and Margaret Calahan. Jerry went to high school in Floydada where he met his high school sweetheart, Linda Graham. They married on January 3, 1970 and spent 51 wonderful years together. Jerry was a United States Veteran, serving in the Army. He and Linda built their life in Canyon and he worked as a farmer in the South Plains, Texas area. Jerry loved the farm and loved working the land; He could even be found checking the fields after he retired. Jerry enjoyed bird watching and caring for animals as well. He was a quiet and reserved man, always doing things for his family without thought of getting something in return. He loved being home and spending time with his family. Jerry could often be found in Tulia at the El Camino restaurant where he spent some of his spare time.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Randy Calahan; one sister, Beth Russell.

Survivors include his wife Linda Calahan of the home; one son, Michael Calahan and wife Andrea of Amarillo; one brother, John Calahan and wife Ann of Stephenville; two grandsons, Austin and Caleb; survivors also include his nieces, nephews and a handful of extended family.
