Jeryl Vance Obituary

Jeryl Vance, 78, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday November 17, 2022. Graveside memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday November 26, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Howard Batson Officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. 

Jeryl was born on April 20, 1944 in Altus, Oklahoma to Afton and Ruby Vance. He excelled in education and would later graduate with his master's degree in Administration with a focus on art. Jeryl was a true patriot and served in the United States Army. He was a talented artist who enjoyed painting the Texas Panhandle Scenery and Indian artifacts. Jeryl spent his free time, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He especially loved to be around his family and close friends. Jeryl worked in education for several years; and taught art at Tascosa High School and became the director for Amarillo ISD and a book coordinator before he retired. 

Jeryl was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Vance of the home; two daughters, Annie Ackley and husband Ryan, and Cathy Vance; five grandchildren, Brayden Houston, Braxton Houston, Marley Hardy, Gavin Ackley and Emma Achley; three sisters, Jacquetta, Donetta and Marquetta; one brother and sister in law, Margie and Jimmy Ramirez.
